The most advanced engineering plastic available on Cut Plastic Sheeting, PEEK is a powerful plastic material with qualities that have allowed it to replace aluminium, stainless steel and titanium as the material of choice for various applications in which they were once considered the undisputed champions.
PEEK is becoming increasingly popular, and has already seen its use grow rapidly throughout the aerospace, industrial, military and medical industries. There are many reasons for this material to do well, but one of it's main features is its wide workable temperature range, which means that all the strength, durability and resilience it shows at room temperature, is retained even after it is exposed to temperatures exceeding 100°C.
Another remarkable trait of this engineering plastic is its hardness and this is instantly obvious when you compared it other engineering plastics. For example, a sheet of PEEK is 50% harder than a sheet of Acetal of the same size, and has 36% more tensile strength than Nylon 6; despite Nylon 6 being almost twice as rigid! This is just one of the reasons why PEEK plastic is considered to be the gold standard when it comes to engineering plastics.
Because of the difficulties involved with machining PEEK plastic, we would not recommend using this plastic unless you have researched how to machine it and are certain that you have the means to do so. We do not offer a custom cut-to-size option on our PEEK rods, however they do come in a range of diameters.
