ABS stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene and is a durable thermoplastic polymer. It is an extremely strong and resilient plastic that is renowned for its manufacturing capabilities. ABS is known as one of the more common engineering polymers and for this reason, we thought it would be helpful to answer the most frequently asked questions we get around ABS Sheet.
ABS Plastic can be melted into its liquid form, and then cooled back into its solid state again without losing its chemical composition. It is a material that can not burn and it is one of the few materials that can be melted down and cooled over and over again.
What can it be used for?
ABS can be used across a variety of industries and used for limitless applications. One popular industry that uses ABS often is the automotive industry. Some common uses are steering wheel covers and dashboards. Other common applications for ABS can be keyboard keys, Lego bricks and POS displays.
Can it be recycled?
ABS is a biocompatible and recyclable material and it is also non-toxic. It can be broken down into smaller pieces and mixed in with virgin ABS to make new products.
What type of ABS plastic is available?
Our ABS sheet is available in a range of textures, colours and embossed finishes. It is also offered in virgin, recycled and flame retardant grades. We have a minimum sheet size of 100mm x 100mm and a maximum sheet size of 2500mm x 1250. The thickness available depends on the type of ABS Sheet – please check the individual product pages to view the thickness.
