Because of its impact and shatter resistance acrylic mirrors are very popular for use in environments where safety is paramount such as nurseries and horse stables.
Acrylic Mirror has excellent reflective properties; however acrylic is not as rigid as glass and is therefore prone to minor distortions on larger panels which will optically distort the image. We recommend that the mirror is bonded to a flat rigid back panel such as Plywood or MDF to minimise this effect.
For large sheet sizes we would recommend polycarbonate mirror as it is much more rigid in larger sizes which reduces optical distortions. In addition, the reflective quality is better than that of standard acrylic.
Please Note: Acrylic mirrors are not suitable for outdoor use. If you're looking for a mirrored material suitable for outdoor use, please consider visiting the product pages for our mirrored Dibond sheets.
Mirrored acrylic sheet is a lightweight, versatile and safe alternative to glass mirrors in a number of domestic and commercial environments including:

Q: How should an acrylic mirror be mounted?
A: For sheet sizes of over 1000mm in any direction acrylic mirror needs to be applied to a hard wood backing to prevent distortion due to the flexibility of 3mm material. Alternatively we can recommend aluminium composite(dibond) mirror which has excellent rigidity at larger sizes but slightly reduced reflective qualities.
Q: Is the reflective quality of mirrored acrylic as good as glass?
A: Acrylic mirror looks exactly the same as glass mirror, offering the same reflective qualities.
