High Impact acrylic, also known as ‘Impact Modified’ acrylic, is a fantastic choice of material for applications where the aesthetic and light weight of acrylic are desired with a greater resistance to impact. High Impact acrylic discs are seven times more impact resistant than standard acrylic and up to seventy times stronger than standard plate glass.

Impact Modified acrylic sheets have elastomers added to the resin before the sheets are extruded on a production line. This results in a terrifically impact resistant material with only slightly reduced scratch resistance and light admittance. Varying degrees of impact modification are achievable, with 45% being the most commonly used.
These special purpose acrylic discs are ideal for providing protective secondary glazing for windows which are susceptible to damage. They also display a terrific resilience to vandalism and are a fantastic choice where this sort of protection is required.
